Stephen E. Hershey, D.D.S., M.S., L.L.C.
Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics
Dr. Hershey is a graduate of Michigan State University and the University of Detroit School of Dentistry (1974). He was a resident in the Department of Pediatrics at Wyler’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago and received a master’s degree in Facial Growth and Development from the University of Chicago (1976). He completed his orthodontic training at the University of Michigan (M.S.) and has been in specialty practice since 1978.
He has held teaching appointments at the University of Chicago, the University of Detroit and the University of Michigan, has published numerous professional articles in both orthodontics and anthropology and has lectured throughout the United States and Europe.
Since 1992, Dr. Hershey has served as an editorial consultant to the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. He is currently president of the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, the American Association of Physical Anthropologists and the American Association of Forensic Odontology. He is diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics.
In addition, he is the director of Tiago: Orthodontic Educational Resources, which has presented and sponsored accredited continuing education programs in orthodontics for dentists and their staff since 1984.
Dr. Hershey, his wife, Patti, and their six children are lifelong area residents. They are very active in their community and sponsor numerous activities involving not only their children, but their patients as well. In his free time, Dr. Hershey enjoys playing jazz trumpet and has ridden and restored motorcycles since he was 16 years old.
Dr. David C. Havens.
Dr. David C. Havens was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He moved to Romeo, Michigan when he was 16 years old and attended Romeo High School, where he was captain of the golf team. While at Romeo High School, Dr. Havens received training as an Emergency Medical Technician and worked as an EMT during summer breaks. He graduated as valedictorian from Romeo High School and enrolled at the University of Michigan in 1998. Dr. Havens received his bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2002. In 2006, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery and graduated atop his dental class. Currently, Dr. Havens is completing his Master of Science degree in Orthodontics at the University of Michigan. He has spent the last three years researching facial and smile esthetics. He is an active member of the Michigan Dental Association, American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontics.
Recently married, Dr. Havens enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife, Sarah. He is an avid golfer and also enjoys many other activities such as skiing, racquetball and other sports and outdoor activities.
Dr. Havens is excited about joining Dr. Hershey’s practice and integrating into the community. He is dedicated to providing the most advanced and highest level of care.
